UIMLA Mountain Leader

A UIMLA mountain leader can lead hikes in mountainous terrain without the use of climbing rope equipment only. He/she may not lead glacier tours and may not lead ski tours. May lead snowshoe hikes.

SHS Mountaineering Instructor James

Within the activities of the Slovak Mountaineering Association JAMES, a mountaineering instructor can lead the training of James members in any mountain terrain. His activity is possible only for members of SHS James alpine clubs and is intended for those interested in achieving the ability to move independently in mountaineering terrains.

Illegal mountain guide

An illegal mountain guide is one who leads people in mountain terrain and is paid by them for his illegal service. This guide does not have a UIAGM mountain guide qualification, is not a member of any UIAGM mountain guide association, does not hold a mountain guide trade licence, is not covered by any professional insurance and does not have the required skills to guide clients commercially in the mountain terrain.
